Day 0: London Began my first travel day early in the morning at Natasha’s lovely North Greenwich flat. Have tried crumpets for the first time ever. So so yummy!! Headed to Gatwick Airport 4 hours early as advised by the Turkmenistan Airlines. Definitely not needed, but oh well. Wrapped my big backpack in store bought cling film and found out it only weights 6.1 kg! Was thinking about getting a drink at Spoons but didn’t end up going. Flight 1: London - Ashgabat Probably one of the best flights I’ve ever been on. I had an entire row to myself and slept very comfortably. Contrary to what I was emailed, there was a vegetarian meal option (not sure what it was), along with some fun snacks. The film selection was quite limited, however, I was perfectly happy with The Lord of the Rings movies. Ashgabat Airport Ashgabat Airport was an interesting experience with security guards monitoring you on every corner. Loved the sunbed like seats though! Flight 2: Ashgabat - Kuala Lumpur May...
Day 3 Morning - Kuala Lumpur Got a single seat on a bus, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, I was right under the AC, so I had to move down a bit to avoid freezing to death. The roads were a bit rough, but I still managed to sleep most of the time. Day 3 Afternoon - Cameron Highlands Checked into the hostel late in the afternoon and chatted with some people in my room. They recommended a few hiking trails they had done and some attractions around the city. Since it was the weekend, the night market was open, so I decided to walk there to get to know the city and catch a lovely sunset. Most of the food options at the market included meat, and as I’m still scared of drinking iced drinks, my options were limited. Got a Grab back to the hostel and had an early night, since I had to be up early the next day.
Day 6 - George Town Started the day with going to the Batu Ferringhi Beach. Didn’t swim there as several people told me they got stung by jellyfish there. Went to Pinang Peranakan Mansion next. I wish my house looked like that. Walked around Little India and got some Michelin recommended veggie/egg samosas and a banana ball. Ended the night by going on a sunset walk with people from my hostel and rested afterwards as I got badly burnt. :((
